Get to Know Lisa Bedford

There’s peace in being prepared.    ~Lisa Bedford

Who could ever have guessed, back in 2009, that prepping would become mainstream and that a suburban homeschooling mom would help lead the way? Up until then, survival was the realm of hardy survivalists, folks who lived off-grid and grew much of their own food before it became fashionable. Preparedness was primarily the domain of Mormons and emergency service workers.

Lisa Bedford was neither a survivalist nor a Mormon, but when the economy crashed in 2009, she knew she had to take drastic measures to prepare her family for everyday emergencies and worst case scenarios. Her blog, The Survival Mom, was born in June, 2009, and just 3 years later, her first book, Survival Mom: How to Prepare Your Family for Everyday Disasters and Worst Case Scenarios, was published.

Lisa lives in southeast Texas with her husband and two teenage kids, who have been homeschooled since kindergarten. She continues to learn new survival and prepping skills and loves to travel, anytime, anywhere.
